This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, who sees it and what your rights are. It applies to thefoodieconnoisseur.com. If anything is unclear, email ali@thefoodieconnoisseur.com.

Who we are

This website is run by Ali, trading as The Foodie Connoisseur UK. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Ali is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us at ali@thefoodieconnoisseur.com.

What we collect

We keep this to the minimum needed. We collect information only in these ways:

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), company (optional) and the message you write.
  • Email: anything you send us by email, including your address and the content of your message.
  • Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages visited. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
  • Your choices: one small item stored in your browser remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice. See the Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for payment details, and we do not run advertising or analytics trackers on this site.

How we use your information

  • To read and reply to your enquiry and to discuss working together.
  • To keep the website secure, fix faults and prevent abuse such as spam.
  • To meet legal obligations where they apply.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

  • Taking steps at your request: when you contact us about a collaboration, we use your details to respond.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure and running, and answering general enquiries.
  • Legal obligation: where we are required by law to keep or disclose information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that help us run the site, and only as far as needed:

  • Email delivery: messages sent through the contact form are delivered to us by Resend, an email delivery service.
  • Hosting: our hosting provider stores the website and its technical logs.
  • Google Maps: review pages show a Google map. When a map loads, your browser contacts Google. See the Cookie Policy.

Some of these providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as needed to deal with them and for up to 24 months afterwards in case you get back in touch. Technical logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider. We then delete the information or make it anonymous.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy,
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong,
  • ask us to delete your information,
  • ask us to restrict or stop using it, and to object to certain uses,
  • receive your information in a portable format where it applies,
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.

To use any of these rights, email ali@thefoodieconnoisseur.com. We will reply within one month.

Children

This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
